Nederlandse Schoenmakers Vereniging verplaatst Schoenmakersdiner naar 7 juni 2020.

Op 5 april 2020 stond ons schoenmakersdiner gepland. De afgelopen dagen is er al besloten door deelnemers aan de Vakwedstrijden vanuit Lombardije in Italië om niet af te reizen naar Nederland. Daar kwam woensdag nog bovenop dat vliegen van en naar Amerika voor onze collega’s uit de Verenigde Staten vrijwel onmogelijk is geworden.

Gisteren kondigde de Nederlandse overheid verregaande maatregelen aan tegen de verspreiding van het Coronavirus. Waarbij evenementen met meer dan 100 personen tot de periode van 31 maart 2020 in ieder geval geannuleerd moesten worden. Met alleen de Nederlanders komen wij ook boven de 100 personen. Om voor iedereen duidelijkheid te scheppen hebben wij hierop besloten om het Schoenmakersdiner, dat vlak daarna gepland, stond te annuleren. Waarbij wij tevens direct nadrukkelijk hebben gezocht naar een nieuwe datum. Die hebben wij samen in goede harmonie met Hotel Vianen kunnen vaststellen op 7 juni 2020.

Dit betekent dat ook de bekendmaking van de Schoenmakerij van het Jaar naar 7 juni wordt verschoven en ook de uitreiking van de prijzen en de tentoonstelling van de Vakwedstrijd. Vanaf maandag zal iedereen die zich reeds heeft opgegeven en deelgenomen heeft aan de Vakwedstrijd persoonlijk worden benaderd of zij ook 7 juni 2020 kunnen komen. Daarnaast zullen wij in overleg met de deelnemers van de Vakwedstrijd treden over hun werkstukken voor de tentoonstelling. In sommige gevallen waarbij het om werkstukken van klanten gaat kunnen wij begrijpen dat ze niet langer gemist kunnen worden.

On 5th April 2020 our Shoemakers dinner was planned. In the last few days already some of our participants in the European Shoemakers contest from Lombardi in Italy already decided not to travel to the Netherlands. After that on Wednesday also the news followed that flying from and to Amerika became very difficult for our colleagues from the United Stated.

Yesterday our Dutch Government announced new measures to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Gatherings of more than 100 people are to be cancelled throughout the Netherlands up to and including 31 March 2020. This includes the closure of public places such as museums, concert venues, theatres, sports clubs and the cancellation of sports matches and other events. With only the Dutch colleagues we are also an event of more than 100 people. To create clarity for everyone, we have decide to cancel the Shoemakers Dinner, that was scheduled shortly thereafter. We have also looked directly for a new date. We have set this new date on 7 June 2020 in good harmony with Van der Valk Hotel Vianen.

This means that also the announcement of the Shoe repair shop of the year will be postponed and also the presentation of the awards and the exhibition of the European Shoemaker Competition. Starting Monday everybody who already signed up for the Shoemakers dinner and the participants of the European Shoemakers Contest will be contacted personally whether they will participate on 7 June 2020. Besides that we will also discuss with de participants of the Shoemakers Contest about their competition pieces for the exhibition. In some cases we understand that when it is about competition pieces of clients that they can no longer be missed.
